In honor of Mr. Iyengar's 90th birthday, The Yoga Center is raising money to contribute to the Bellur Krishnamachar &amp; Seshamma Smaraka Niddhi
Trust (BKSSNT). This charitable trust has undertaken several projects to serve the village of Bellur (his birthplace) with necessities
such as a school which includes regular yoga classes, construction of a water storage tank, a special high school for girls,
an eye camp which provided service and glasses to all residents of Bellur.  www.bksiyengar.com&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
We encourage you to contribute by donating what you can on the day of our free class (Mr. Iyengar's birthday).
Class is Sun. Dec. 14 from 2:00-4:00pm and will be followed by cake and punch.  Because of space limitations,

The Yoga Center will be open each Tuesday in December from from 6:00-8:00pm for students interested in practicing.
We invite you to drop in during these times to practice, even for a short time.  No class instruction will be given, but you can use the props,
yoga furniture and rope wall to help inspire and inform your home practice, or to work on poses that are of particular interest to you.

Those of you who have been a part of the studio for many years know that I started Charlotte's first yoga studio with five
students in a duplex on McClintock. Over the years students have come and gone and come back and gone again.
We have grown together through our common practice. This party is a celebration for the students who have made the
place for our weekly practice possible. I can't possibly say often enough how much you all mean to me. I hope to see each and every one of you Saturday.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

Anyone can laugh in a group for 15-20 minutes without depending upon a great sense of humor,
jokes or comedy. Laughter Yoga combines simple laughter exercises (simulated laughter) and gentle
yoga breathing, which turns into real laughter when practiced in a group. The unique concept of Laughter Yoga and
Laughter Club is the brain child of Dr. Madan Kataria, a physician from Mumbai, India.&lt;br&gt;

Pranayama is the regulation of the breath which focuses on the length of the inhalation, exhalation and the interruption of
the flow of breath. It prepares the mind for more internal practices such as concentration (dharana), meditation (dhyana),
and self realization (samadhi). In this beginning class we will cover the benefits and basic techniques of pranayama.
You will learn to set up your blankets for supine pranayama, and a variety of breathing practices will be introduced
including Ujjayi and Viloma 1 and 2. At the end of this class you will be ready to begin your own daily breathing practice.

Pranayama is the regulation of the breath which focuses on the length of the inhalation, exhalation and the interruption of
the flow of breath. It prepares the mind for more internal practices such as concentration (dharana), meditation (dhyana),
and self realization (samadhi). In this beginning class we will cover the benefits and basic techniques of pranayama.
You will learn to set up your blankets for supine pranayama, and a variety of breathing practices will be introduced
including Ujjayi and Viloma 1 and 2. At the end of this class you will be ready to begin your own daily breathing practice.

We are pleased to announce that the new web site for The Yoga Center is up and running. On it you will find all of the useful information
